Support — ChatGPT Done Sound by MAXIOL LTD
Need help? The extension runs in Firefox on https://chatgpt.com/*. Start by checking the installed version in Firefox's Add-ons Manager, and update from the official AMO listing. The developer-accepted baseline documented here is 1.0.13, but the publicly available AMO version may be different.
Quick setup: open the extension toolbar popup, select Enable extension, choose Notification only / Sound only / Notification + sound, and press Test reaction. For a custom audio file or notification template, open the full settings page. By default, alerts are sent only when the relevant ChatGPT tab or Firefox window is not active.
FAQ
Q: Why didn't I hear anything when I watched ChatGPT finish?
A: The default setting avoids alerts when that ChatGPT tab and its Firefox window are active. Enable Also react when the ChatGPT tab/window is active, then try Test reaction. Confirm that the reaction mode includes sound and the volume is not zero.
Q: How do the colored icons work?
A: Gold rotation indicates generation. A green icon means a reply completed in a tab you have not viewed. Open that tab in a focused Firefox window and the original icon returns. A tab's background color is not changed.
Q: Why doesn't a custom sound play?
A: Upload the file from Full settings, select Uploaded audio file, then press Test reaction. Make sure Firefox can decode the selected audio format. If needed, clear the file and upload it again. The first 1–30 seconds and 1–10 repeats are adjustable.
Q: Why are there no notifications?
A: Select a reaction mode that includes notifications; check Firefox and OS notification permissions; use Test reaction. The system may suppress notifications through its own focus/do-not-disturb settings.
Q: Why does the icon stop updating or alerts stop after a ChatGPT change?
A: Reload existing ChatGPT tabs after updating the extension, then test a new reply. ChatGPT's UI changes over time; report the browser version, extension version and steps if the problem persists.
Q: Why was there no completion alert after pressing Stop?
A: This is intentional: a manually stopped reply is not treated as a successfully completed answer.
Q: Does opening an old chat trigger an alert?
A: It should not. The detector attempts to distinguish historical content loading from new generation. If you see a false alert, report it.
Q: Does it work on Android?
A: The manifest sets Firefox Android 142 as the minimum and the AMO listing may offer installation. Android functionality has not been independently verified by the development QA described here.
Q: Does the extension download images or videos?
A: No. It detects response completion, including image-generation workflows; it does not save images, videos or chat transcripts.
Q: Is it an official ChatGPT/OpenAI extension?
A: No. It is independently developed by MAXIOL LTD.
Troubleshooting checklist
- Verify the extension is enabled in
about:addonsand your Firefox version meets the stated minimum. - Reload all already-open
chatgpt.comtabs after an extension update. - Use Test reaction to distinguish audio/notification problems from completion-detection problems.
- Check reaction mode, active-tab option, volume, browser/OS notifications and custom audio selection.
- Test a normal new reply and then an image reply; note whether the gold icon rotated and whether the green icon appeared in a background tab.
- Temporarily test with other ChatGPT-related extensions disabled if you suspect UI or favicon interference; restore them afterward.
- If problems continue, send a concise reproducible report without private conversation content.
Contact / reporting a bug
Email root@maxiol.com (the public AMO support email) or use the support contact path listed on this page. Include the exact extension version, Firefox version, operating system, test date/time and time zone, whether the tab was active/inactive, the expected and observed behavior, how often it happens and whether Test reaction works. For icon problems, describe gold rotation, green unread state and restoration separately. A cropped screenshot is useful if it contains no sensitive details.
Protect your data: never send passwords, login cookies, tokens, API keys, payment information, complete chat URLs, private chat titles or entire conversations.
